WHAT IS ACCELERATED OSTEOGENIC ORTHODONTICS?
This oral treatment combines a procedure done by a gum specialist (periodontist procedure) with orthodontics. It involves activation of the underlying supporting jawbone. Combined with traditional orthodontic methods, the treatment results in a faster smile makeover. The procedure also provides the opportunity for increasing underlying support. This helps improve overall gum health – and can often extend the range of orthodontic movement available.
IS WILCKODONTICS RIGHT FOR YOU?
It is important to note before that this option does involve a surgical procedure. Like all invasive procedures, this surgery is associated with certain risks. This (and your personal suitability) will need to be discussed with Dr.Zaidi and/or periodontist (gum specialist) prior to going ahead with treatment.
Some possible benefits of Wilckodontics include:
- Speed: Firstly, if braces are right for you – but you aren’t keen to endure extended time wearing braces, Wilckodontics will ensure that your teeth move rapidly. The ‘activation’ ensures that your body responds very efficiently to gentle pressure applied to your teeth to the braces. Your jaws and gums will allow the teeth to move at speeds otherwise impossible.
- Gum health: If you have gum recession (an incredibly common condition where some or all of your teeth look ‘longer’ – usually from over-zealous brushing) you may also benefit from Wilckodontics. In many cases (e.g. crowding) conventional orthodontics has the risk of making the recession worse. Wilckodontics will ensure this doesn’t happen – and can in fact provide a ‘boost’ of support which will improve support compared to its pre-treatment condition.
- Extra movements: Due to its ability to add to supporting structure, Wilckodontics can allow tooth movements that would not otherwise be possible. Your smile can be widened – or teeth can be moved forwards in your mouth to assist with correcting your bite – and/or improving support for your lips. If you have been told in the past that jaw surgery (with an oral surgeon) is the only option to fully correct your issue, it may be worth asking about Wilckodontics. Depending on your case, you may be able to have Wilckodontics instead – a much simpler and less invasive alternative.
